You worship an immoral god

SCRIPTURE: “And Ammon said: Yea, and he looketh down upon all the children of men; and he knows all the thoughts and intents of the heart; for by his hand were they all created from the beginning.” –Alma 18:32. [source]

COMMENTARY: If you are Christian, you worship an immoral god. Jesus and his dad constantly do things that would be considered immoral if done by mortals. They stand idly by while children are abused physically, mentally, and sexually. They spy on people in locker rooms, showers, and bedrooms. They watch people get raped and murdered and don’t lift a finger to help. They have pertinent information in important police investigations yet never call in. They are aware a building is about to collapse, yet never warn a single person. In many of these instances, if a human did the same things these two do, that human would be reprimanded, ostracized, or even jailed. Yet people continue to claim that Jesus and his dad are perfect. That’s a really fun double standard. But what do I know? I’m just another apostate.

  1. Just my thoughts…

    1. You keep pretending that morals, good, bad, right and wrong actually exist. In an atheistic accidental world there is no right or wrong. You know that, but the image of God is in you and you cannot escape trying to impose the moral framework.

    2. In an atheistic world, those lives that are lost are literally meaningless. No value at all… simply stardust.. you are an intelligent bring… you know that. Yet you want to argue as though they do matter and have value. Again, you have the image of God in you as well as those lives. You believe they have value because they come from God. Their lives are literally sacred.

    3. The Christian view is that we are eternal beings. In comparison to eternity, these tragedies are like a spec of sand compared to all the beaches in the world.

    4. You cannot escape the image of God in you! Although you deny Him, you’re made in His image and will continue to live as though He exists while denying him. Your posts make my point.

    1. You seem to keep misunderstanding the concept that it’s possible to show that a belief system has flaws in it while still working within the framework of the belief system in spite of its flaws.

If I talk about a plot hole in the Star Wars movies, I’m not going to approach the topic from the perspective that light sabers are physically impossible, that nobody has created a star destroyer, and interstellar travel doesn’t work in a single human’s lifetime. Instead, I’m going to suspend disbelief, get into that story’s logic, and talk about it on its own terms. I can do this without accepting as fact any of the events, technologies, or people involved.

My post is, once again, starting from the believer’s worldview, not mine, and showing the inconsistencies of that worldview. If you believe that Jesus exists and knows everything, and if you believe that a person who knows details of a murder plot is morally obligated to warn someone, then you should hopefully see that according to your own understandings, Jesus is immoral.

If you have no belief in Jesus or you don’t share the common set of Christian moral values, then this particular argument may make no sense to you.

But don’t pretend that because I’m talking about Star Wars that I must believe in Star Wars. Thanks.

  2. Lol love the analogy. My point is simple. You want to deny God but live in a world where aspects of reality exist that can only apply in a theistic world. That’s hypocracy to me.

If God existed, would you worship him? Simple yes or no question…

    1. I think you misunderstand the nature of this world if you believe that your God is the source of anything vital to existence. Tell me, how can you live in a world without Thor? He provides so much of your daily blessings and you just deny his existence? Laughable!

If your God did exist, I would not worship him. There is nothing laudable about a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.

  3. I am simply showing the holes in your view as well. I gaurentee that you could not truly live in your worldview. You acknowledge and affirm atheism but cannot live as one.

    1. You’ll have to explain the holes. You can do so by demonstrating the problems you have living in a world where you don’t believe in Thor or any of the other thousands of gods humans have worshipped.
