QUOTE: “There is a temptation for the writer or the teacher of Church History to want to tell everything, whether it is worthy or faith promoting or not. Some things that are true are not very useful.” -Boyd K. Packer, “The Mantle is Far, Far Greater than the Intellect,” Brigham Young University, 22 August 1981. [source]
COMMENTARY: What about you? Are you more attached to truth, or to things that promote faith? Would you hide a troubling truth? Would you advance a faith-promoting untruth? I personally don’t feel it’s okay to lie in an effort to preserve someone’s faith in something that’s supposed to be true and wouldn’t need your lie if it actually were. But what do I know? I’m just another apostate.
