Let me kill my son

let me kill my son

SCRIPTURE: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” -John 3:16, KJV. [source]

COMMENTARY: But just don’t keep offending god. He has a special place prepared for those who hate him, and he’s fresh out of only begottens. But what do I know? I’m just another apostate.

  1. I get your point… Just my view…

    Unlike Mormonism, Jesus is 100% eternal and God. God took the punishment upon himself. It would not be the same as giving your kid at all. God is 100% just, so yes, sin is punished. But if sin is against him, either he must take the payment or the sinner must take the payment. That’s justice.

    His special place is simply eternity without God. You either want God in eternity or you do not. Hell is simply where people want to be. If you do not want God in this life, you will not want him in the next.

    1. I have to admit, I’m not very impressed by a guy who claims to be all-powerful and all-knowing when the best he can come up with so that he can forgive you is to brutally murder his son (or even better, himself). I can think of dozens of better plans than that without even working up a sweat. If I had all eternity to plan it, as he evidently has, I could probably name over a thousand better ideas. You’re right. I neither want that kind of a person in this life, nor, if there is one, in the next.

      (So you’re one of those people who believes that Jesus prayed to himself and asked why, on the cross, he had forsaken himself? It’s funny how easy it is for you to tell that Shiva, for instance, is mythology, but you can’t see it about your own preferred god.)

  2. Preferred assume I had a choice. Immaterial.

    Prayed to himself? Lol no. You clearly do not understand the trinity or the nature of the God in the Bible… Standard coming from an LDS background.

    If you’re going to argue from inside the worldview, try to understand it.

  3. If you would like further study, I can recommend some books or podcasts to you… The Reasonable Faith ap has a few good podcasts on the trinity or cross examined… Or RZIM

  4. You must be super smart if you could come up with a better plan than the all knowing God 🙂

    Of course it isn’t what we would do, but we’re not all knowing or eternal or perfectly loving and just.

    I am sorry you would not want to spend eternity with Him. He gave up divinity to live a perfect human life to save your soul. Sin requires sacrifice. It’s the message from Genesis to Revelation.

    1. My plan is really difficult. If I wanted to forgive you I’d … wait for it … just forgive you. If God is all-powerful, surely he could do it, if he wanted to. If he isn’t all-powerful, he’s not much of a god. And if he doesn’t want to just forgive you, then once again he’s not much of a god.

  5. This is (really) my last post lol. Reason being, I could comment on every image and explain my view of why I disagree and you could respond with your view.

    I know where to find you, and you have my email so let me know if you ever have any questions.

    I truly wish you the best in the future. I must also thank you for keeping our discussions so civil. I truly do not share my faith often online because I keep logging on to respond, and it’s hard for me to clarify behind a computer. Often times discussions online turn into name calling and personal attacks… So thanks. I wish you the best!
